It’s easy how to eat healthy and lose weight as long as you base your diet on plant based whole food. It’s also much cheaper and healthier than buying processed and refined foods. This means if you want to get healthier, lose weight and save money, give up anything that comes in a bottle, box, can or package.
For example, potatoes are healthy and cheap and you can buy them by the bag.They play and important part in a whole food diet. But, they are also nightshades, so I cook them well and don’t buy green ones. This will limit its toxic effects. Furthermore, brown rice, even when organic has traces of arsenic in it. I boil it in water and rinse it well. I don’t use a rice cooker.
Both rice and potatoes are complex carbs and harder for the body to assimilate. But, they ‘stick to your ribs’ giving you energy longer than fruit. But, fruit is easier for your body to assimilate because it has simple carbs. But, it is more nutritious than rice and potatoes.
You won’t be able to just eat fruit. I know I can’t. I don’t think you get everything you need from just fruit. You also need green and other colored vegetables. Potatoes and rice do provide the bulk. You feel satiated when you eat complex carbs.
When you are a vegetarian, you can eat all you want and still lose weight. You can spice up your food adding raw or cooked onions and mushrooms. Adding sugar, salt and pepper to your food is fine. Just don’t overdo it.
The right carbs don’t make you fat. They actually help you lose weight because they have fiber. Things like cookies, chips, crackers, tortillas and bread won’t help you lose weight. They are filled with salt, sugar, fat, additives and preservatives.
