How to eat Healthy on a Budget?

How to eat healthy on a budget is easy when you decide to become vegetarian. You also save when you give up buying anything that comes in a bottle, can, package or box. This is processed and refined food. Expensive, and not healthy. You can save money buying these organic because they are some of the lowest in pesticide residue.

  • Asparagus
  • Cabbage
  • Cantaloupe
  • Grapefruit
  • Mangoes
  • Onions
  • Peas
  • Pineapple
  • Watermelon

Eat what you like

You have to like the fruits and vegetables you are eating. They have to taste good or you simply won’t stick to it. This is key to losing weight and becoming healthier. You must look forward to your meals. Recipes are easy to put together and you will really love seeing the pounds drop off while feeling a whole lot better.

  • I eat fruit in the mornings and throughout each day
  • I eat a large green salad for lunch with beans and rice
  • I eat steamed vegetables for dinner with rice or potato
  • I eat fruit at night when I get hungry

Remember, just because something tastes good doesn’t mean it is good for you. As you eat healthier, your taste buds will crave the healthier food. It might take a little willpower and self-discipline to stay on tract. And, you will probably back tract. That’s OK, just get back on tract! No one’s perfect!

Old habits die hard

Your taste buds are used to eating the wrong food. It’s the standard American diet in our culture. Who doesn’t eat turkey on the holidays and birthday cake on his birthday? Sometimes, you have to eat what you shouldn’t so you don’t offend grandma. Just don’t eat too much of the wrong food!

It takes time to eat differently. We are accustomed to a high fat, salt, sugar, processed carb, and animal product filled diet that has caused the great majority of Americans most of their health problems. I still love bacon and ice cream. I just don’t eat them anymore. I have learned a whole food plant based diet brings better health and weight loss.
