How do you stop sugar cravings? Do we even want to? We were born with taste buds that prefer sweet to bitter. So, we naturally crave the sweet over the not so sweet. We were made that way. This protects us from eating something poisonous in nature. But, refined sugar is not nature’s product. It’s a grand deception that can bring us bodily harm.
First of all, all calories are not created equal. Sugar is empty calorie driving disease and obesity. Refined oil is also empty calorie. This goes for almost all junk and snack food. What are the ingredients in question? Refined sugar, oils and processed grain.
Got a sugar craving? Solution: eat fruit.
In the past, diets of nearly every country worked until the advent of processed food. For example, pasta. The old Mediterranean diet had meat, vegetables, some oil and wine. Not pasta. Pasta is processed: a man-made invention.
Any diet based upon reducing calories or portion reduction won’t work. Who wants to go hungry or starve? If you have a box of cereal, it might be half sugar. Yes, the box could very well be half full of sugar. This goes for a bag cookies, a serving of yogurt or a can of soft drink. Not only sugar makes you gain weight, processed grain will certainly, too.
A calorie is not a calorie. If you keep the cookies and other snacks and junk food in the house, no one is goanna lose any weight. You have to buy different food, and can’t have the wrong foods hanging around the house. It all has to go. No one can eat in moderation when it comes to junk food full of sugar and other additives. Why do you think they call it ‘junk food’?
Sugar is one ingredient you need to get out of your food. If we buy any processed food at all, we must read labels carefully. This goes especially for detecting high fructose corn syrup as an insidious ingredient.
Your body doesn’t even know what to do with ‘HFCS’. It can eventually cause fatty liver, cardiovascular and heart disease. Refined sugars are all bad for your teeth and make you gain weight. Your blood sugar sky-rockets, and it’s not healthy over time to have those highs and lows.
You have heard our health system is out of control. One huge reason is because of the food we eat. It’s simple: processed food will eventually make you sick and plant-based whole food will likely make you lose weight and become well again.
