The body is at its healthiest when the pH balance is 7.3 to 7.45. Metabolic Acidosis [1 medlineplus.gov] can occur in persons who eat too many highly acidic foods. This is a condition whereby the blood and bodily fluids become too acidic.
In this day and age, maintaining the healthiest alkaline/acidic balance may be almost impossible to do. Too much acidity in the body may be due to the buildup of bodily toxins, stress and eating junk food.
If you have any doubts about what your body acidity is, you can test yourself with strips. You can get these at the drugstore. I use ‘Hydrion® pH 4.5 – 8.5′.

So, what’s left to eat that’s healthy? When we tire of feeling lousy, being in pain, fatigued and sick, out of desperation we may seek a solution. It is almost never too late to do so.
When our pH is out of balance; fatigue and disease may soon follow. Eating fruits and vegetables can help reverse an acidic condition within the body.
We can learn which foods are alkaline and which ones are acid. Additionally, drinking enough filtered water can help lower the acidity in the body. Cancers survive well in an acidic environment.
Historically, we are hunter gatherers. Our bodies have trouble assimilating processed foods, because our systems haven’t yet evolved to handle the large volume of refined starches and sugars we currently consume.
There may be other substances we consume that we are allergic to that could be making us not feel well, like wheat products. There can be other things that are not healthy we need to stop eating or using altogether such as refined sugar, eating red meat, reducing salt and fat intake.
Buy organic fruits and vegetables if your store carries them. If they don’t have it, ask them to stock it. It is well worth the extra money for the peace of mind the additional health benefits will give you from no pesticides and harmful chemical fertilizers used to grow the produce.
