Rheumatism and vegetarianism: My gout and rheumatoid arthritis symptoms disappeared!

If you are trying to lose weight, you might wonder why I am talking about different ailments, conditions and diseases so often. While healthy weight loss of unneeded pounds is good, often what comes with losing weight is better health. It happened to me when I lost almost fifty pounds through eating plant-based whole food.

Through adopting the diet we were born to eat, my aches and pains suddenly began to disappear.

How one eats affects his weight and how he feels. I have had bouts of rheumatism or rheumatic diseases. This took its form as mysterious generalized aches and pains, gout and rheumatoid arthritis.

Yet, I am no doctor and I didn’t get my chronic conditions diagnosed. But, I could read and understand terminology, know how to use a dictionary and did my own research; of which, you can and should do, too, for your own education, control of your present and future health destiny and peace of mind. We simply can’t leave that to others.

We must understand our own health and eating habits. We cannot simply leave that judgement to the doctors, because most of them don’t understand nor believe nutrition does anything at all. They get little to no training in nutritional science.

I have found out how we eat decidedly determines our health, be it for good or bad. How we eat does do good things if we eat right. Food can be more powerful than medication with little to no side effects, as long as we don’t eat the wrong foods.

Medication may have numerous side effects and can and does kill many of us. Of course, unhealthy foods can and does kill us, too. For example, who doesn’t know that pizza, burgers and fries aren’t health food? How about dairy? And, meat? How about too much sugar and salt? Greasy foods? These are just a few examples of foods which are ‘poisoning’ our bodies making us sick and diseased.

Along the way, I discovered I was sensitive to wheat (food antigens causing an immune response) and ceased eating it whether it be whole or refined [1 ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]. I also stopped eating corn, barley, oats and rye in all their forms, a.k.a. potential problem grains. I also don’t drink alcohol, coffee, tea, use oil, limit salt and sugar, (avoiding anything with fructose) don’t eat meat, other animal products or eat processed and refined foods, eggs and dairy products.

Additional known arthritis triggers…

  • Tomatoes
  • Potatoes
  • Citrus fruits
  • Nuts

‘The dietary elimination in DDP therapy included the omission of all animal milks, wheat, rye, barley, and oats, and the patients were asked to avoid added sugar and yeast [2 ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]’.

For years, I had a weight problem. Also, I didn’t feel good and had no energy. I didn’t understand the basics of nutrition. Now, with the computer and internet, the health information we require to lose weight and gain health is literally at all our fingertips. But, you have to use good judgement in what you believe, because you will find much misleading inaccurate information and half-truths.
