People are really sensitive about their food. I mean, it’s hard if not nearly impossible to tell them they are eating the wrong foods when you know they are overweight and not in good health because of it.
You can drop hints all day long and they won’t see the connection. And, if you keep trying to nudge them in the right direction, they will resist if not get annoyed with your ‘good intentioned’ subtle suggestions.
I would say that most people don’t want to change their poor eating habits, even if they know it’s bringing their bodies harm. When they get ill, they leave the responsibility for better health to their doctors and are seemingly overjoyed when their physician prescribes a pill. Unfortunately, pills never cure anything.
So, the only thing you can do is to save yourself. Set an example for those you love by eating plant based whole food. They will soon see the new you. You will likely lose weight, feel better and have more energy.
I lost almost fifty pounds eating low calorie healthy living food. It’s hard not to slip back, especially if those around you that you care about aren’t catching on. What can you do to help them?
You have to develop more willpower and ‘stick-to-it-iveness’, and just have to say no to the wrong way of eating. But, prepare yourself, as you will fall off the wagon and slip from time to time because of your culture, holidays and bad food temptations.
Just because unhealthy food tastes good doesn't make it good for you.
Eating unhealthy is like being married to the wrong person. It’s like a moth attracted to a flame. People who are right for us may not be as flashy. But, those who appear to have a fancier wrapper are like junk and snack foods. They simply don’t love us back like real food loves our bodies.
But, eating healthier food isn’t exactly ‘plain Jane’. Spices do an awful lot making foods taste even better. When you eat foods loaded with salt, sugar and oil, you will most often pay a hefty price in weight gain and poorer health as a result.
When I began eating plant based whole foods, I lost about five pounds a month. You could lose more than me. But, losing one to two pounds a week has been deemed by reliable authorities as healthy weight loss more likely to stay off [1 cdc.gov/healthyweight]’.
