Did you know that sprinkling a few nuts and seeds on your green salads everyday increases vitamin and mineral absorption? Yes, it does. Not only that, it enhances your salad flavor and variety making it taste even better. No one wants a ‘boring’ repetitive salad. Try adding red peppers and olives on it, too.
‘A healthy dietary pattern is high in vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts, whole grains, and lean protein sources and low-fat dairy products [1 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3257681/]’.
Make sure you buy your nuts and seeds roasted, as it seems to eliminate or reduce the strength of lectin. Also, get them unsalted. I know, it affects me, so I limit my seeds and nuts to no more than a ‘small’ handful a day. It’s so easy to keep eating them when you love them so much.
For me, my favorite is cashews. So, a bag can go just like that if I’m not careful. Then, later on I will be suffering generalized joint and general muscle pain. But, most often I use sunflower and pumpkin seeds on top my daily salads.
