Support for a Healthier Diet: Getting your Spouse Onboard

So, what do we do if we have little to no support from our family members on our new diet? Yet, in the meantime, you will find that adopting a plant-based whole food diet will not only make you lose unwanted pounds, but will also make you healthier. It has been proven this is true. Those around you will see the changes in you…

‘Vegetarians miss out on lots of foods. No grilled burgers or franks at picnics. No holiday turkey or fries cooked in animal fat. Strict vegetarians may even forego honey made by bees. But vegetarians also tend to miss out on major health problems that plague many Americans. They generally live longer than the rest of us, and they’re more likely to bypass heart-related and other ailments [1 newsinhealth.nih.gov/2012/07/digging-vegetarian-diet]’.

My wife dragged her feet when it came to giving up traditional unhealthy food AKA the standard American diet. She had her doubts, so it has been slow going. But, gradually, she is changing her ways. I think a lot of it has to do with results I have achieved. She is a believe it when I see it kind of person who is very logical about nearly everything. It’s a good way to be. Skeptical.

But, I have been the test rat. Actually, my own test rat. When I deviate from the foods I know I should be eating I get inflammation and all those mysterious bodily aches and pains. They all return again. It’s very painful. But, when the holidays or birthdays come along again, we do indulge ourselves a little too much. Yet, I always do recover once more.

So, the temptation to eat the wrong foods is always there, whether you are with someone who eats differently than you or you see commercials for pizza on TV, or whatever. One thing for sure, once you quit or at least slow down on eating processed and refined foods and change over to plant-based whole foods, you will see the difference in how you look and feel. And, the more of it you consume, the more you will believe it’s the way to eat and the only rational lifestyle to live.
