The Virtues of Eating Simply, Living Simply

I would think most everyone would want their lives to be less complicated. The less complex, the more time we get for other things we cherish. For example, this might mean you have more time to spend with your kids.

Although, with that, depending upon what age, they’d probably enjoy being with their friends more than with mom and dad. Sorry, but that’s been true with me of course, in the past. They are grown now. And, they are step kids, which is another story unto itself.

What will make our lives more complicated is if we are not healthy. This means doctor visits, maybe medications, possibly procedures if not operations. Do we want this. I doubt anyone does. But, is prevention so bad? Preventing something happening in the first place? Simplification of our lives can help. But, the transition takes time and patience and a little willpower.

Fruits and vegetables are good choices for healthy snacks. They are full of vitamins and low in calories and fat [1 medlineplus.gov/ency/patientinstructions/000338.htm] .’

Examples…

Firstly, if we change what things we eat, we begin to simplify our lives. Eating a plant based whole food diet basically becomes a lifestyle change. For example, when one cuts back on eating meat, he begins to like the flavor even less as time moves on.

Now, I eat very little of it. Why? It’s hazardous to my health. And, I have changed my mind about a few things in relation to it. I don’t want to bring harm to animals anymore. My love for animals as a whole has increased dramatically.

Uncomplicating things in your life wherever you see them will lighten the load on your shoulders. Things being relative, what’s complicated for another may not be so for you. It’s a judgement call we make alone.

I noticed that when I ate simply, I became happier. Why would this be? Because some of my happiness wasn’t derived from the wrong foods. Yes, I still love pizza, meat, jack and cokes, buttered salted popcorn and about everything else that caused me to have inflammation, rheumatism and gout, but I don’t eat them anymore. Pain doesn’t bring happiness. Health and wellbeing is happiness.
