Good and Bad Carbs, Fats and Sugar

You hear so much conflicting information it’s hard to know the truth about which food is healthy and not. We have all heard sugar is bad for us, red meat, carbs and fat. So, what’s left to eat?

It gets so confusing about what’s true and not about our food. And, if we hear something said enough times, it seems like it becomes the truth. But, is it really?

Not necessarily. Be careful what you believe without proof. Food producers want to sell their product, not protect our health. That’s our job. Their job is to promote their product.

I really think they are selling us what we want to eat. So, evil intent on their part may not inherently be there. They are giving the people what they are asking for. And, justifiably, they make a profit at it as their reward. That’s because we want fun food, but at what price? Is healthy food not fun? There’s a lot of people who have things wrong with their health. What does food have to do with ill health?

‘Remember that a calorie is always a calorie whether it comes from fat or carbohydrate. Reducing fat and saturated fat in your family’s diet is important to maintaining heart health and reducing calories. However, fat-free or reduced-fat food choices aren’t always low in calories. What to choose…

  • Get your fats in natural foods like nuts, seeds and avocados
  • Choose your carbs in unrefined and unprocessed foods like beans, potatoes and whole intact grains like brown rice
  • For simple carbs or sugars choose fruits avoiding dried fruit and sugary drinks

A lot depends upon what things we eat. Never underestimate the healing power or health destroying effect of the food you choose eating.

I think most of us instinctively know fried foods, pizza and hamburgers aren’t health food.  Yet, when meal time comes and we get those hunger pangs, we repeat the same eating habits day in and day out. We eat the food we have the habit of eating over and over again. How does one break free?

In time, what we eat may take its toll. Then, we can’t put a finger on exactly what caused our ailment, condition and disease. One day, our sickness came out of the blue and we can’t prove why.

Then, we put our faith in our doctors who know little about nutrition and the food our bodies were designed to eat. How will we finally break this vicious cycle freeing ourselves from the addictive quality of unhealthy food? Continued.
