Interesting how we are the only creature on the face of the earth who has trouble with his diet. No other animal is confused about what to eat. They don’t sign up to have low-fat over-priced meals delivered to their doorstep or work out with a trainer at the local health spa.
There is a diet designed by nature for every living earthly inhabitant. Ours happens to be a plant-based whole food diet high in carbohydrates and low in fat and protein. That’s it. Now, we know how to eat. Where is the evidence?
There are several examples in nature. Birds eat bugs and seeds, horses eat grass and apes in the wild eat a low-fat diet that is predominately fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts.
Guess what? We are genetically almost exact to the great apes. Therefore, if we eat like them like nature intended, we should do better than we are now instead of succumbing like we do to all sorts of ailments, conditions and diseases.
‘Fruits and vegetables are packed with fiber and essential vitamins and minerals. Research has shown that eating fruits and vegetables as part of an overall healthy diet can reduce your risk for long-term diseases, such as heart disease, stroke, and some types of cancer. The fiber in fruits and vegetables can help relieve constipation and normalize your bowel movements [1 newsinhealth.nih.gov/2016/04/plants-partners-health]’.
Furthermore, no primate eats grain. They have no need for more protein than fruits and vegetables provide. They are many times stronger than a man. Gorillas, chimpanzees and orangutans are anatomically and physiologically like us. We and they are known as anthropoid primates.
Nature laid out the eating plan for creatures who are similar. Again, birds eat seeds, cows graze and apes eat leaves, vegetables and fruit. Our natural diet would be composed of fruit, vegetables, leafy greens (in place of leaves,) seeds and nuts. It is not anything like the standard American diet we all love eating. The ‘SAD’ is way too high in the wrong carbs, protein and fat, not to mention refined sugar and salt.
The meat and dairy industry, among others who produce processed and refined foods would like us to believe otherwise. Same goes for those who produce all kinds of vitamin pills and dietary supplements. Don’t forget, they are in the business of making money. We should be in the business of looking after our own health.
The truth is that doctors don’t make money when they tell us what to eat to cure-all our ailments, conditions and diseases. They also receive little to no training in nutrition. They make their money when they prescribe pills and operate on us, etc.. Where they really make money is when we are dying.
Unfortunately, it appears to me, this is how our medical system works. I don’t believe this has to be. The better idea for us is to do our own research to learn the basic principles of nutrition. We can change our lifestyles and eat a diet largely of plant-based whole food. This way of eating is a proven solution to losing weight, feeling better, getting healthier and living longer.
