I think we all have a sweet tooth. But, I believe there’s a good reason for it. We are lacking energy. I have found that sugar is sugar no matter where you find it.
But, I believe some is worse for you than some others. For example, from sources I’ve read, your pancreas doesn’t seem to know what to do with corn syrup or HFCS (high fructose corn syrup.) This is refined. Better to stick to unrefined.
‘If you are diagnosed with high blood triglycerides, your doctor may first recommend that you adopt heart-healthy lifestyle changes, such as healthy eating, which includes limiting alcohol, added sugars, and foods high in saturated or trans fats; getting regular physical activity; quitting smoking; and aiming for a healthy weight [1 nhlbi.nih.gov/health-topics/high-blood-triglycerides]’.
It might be best to get your sugar from a better source: eating fruit. Fruit has fiber which they say tends to slow sugar absorption. But, I am having doubts about high sugar fruits like bananas, pineapples, mangoes and apples, etc.
That’s why I limit my consumption to lower sugar fruit like blackberries, strawberries and cantaloupe. I probably eat about a cup to two cups of it a day.
‘If I eat white sugar, honey, maple syrup and even fruit, it doesn’t give me energy, it makes me tired. I believe all of them are bad for the teeth. This includes sports drinks, hard candy, dried fruit, sticky foods, gummy starchy food like crackers and chips, chewing on ice, citrus fruit, sugar in coffee and tea, soft drinks and alcohol’ ~ your author
What I focus on for long lasting energy between meals is eating starches like potatoes, beans and rice in my meals. For example, when I eat breakfast, I make fried potatoes without oil and add some pinto beans.
This really tends to ‘stick to my ribs’ for hours. For example, if I eat a late breakfast at about 11AM, I am not hungry again until about 3 in the afternoon. Then, I am hungry again and eat an early dinner. Try it, you might like it.
As with life in general, it is actually one big experiment. We find ourselves through our employment and have to like doing what occupation we choose to be happy and fulfilled with our life. We also have to find the right diet for our best health. I don’t believe anyone who’s unhealthy is genuinely happy.
I have discovered plant based whole food is what we were made to eat. Why? You can readily see how unhealthy the general American population is by looking at all the prescription medicine commercials on TV at night.
‘Try whole fruit spread made with 100% fruit, no added sugar or high-fructose corn syrup and no artificial preservatives, colors or flavors’ ~ your author
