What I Ate Today that made me feel really Great!

It seems to me that the lighter I eat the better I feel afterwards. But, I don’t eat a lot of things that I used to. When you change your diet, it’s more like evolving rather than an abrupt change. This is because old habits seem to die-hard.

When you have been eating a certain way all your lifetime due to culture and tradition, you may not have all the support you need to keep it up. You might need to get a few new friends that are those who really want to lose weight, get healthier and live longer.

A vegetarian eating pattern can be a healthy option. The key is to consume a variety of foods and the right amount of foods to meet your calorie and nutrient needs [1 choosemyplate-prod.azureedge.net/sites/default/files/tentips/DGTipsheet8HealthyEatingForVegetarians.pdf]’.

I saw the light. But, I experienced a lot of pain before my great awakening. Pain is the great motivator. It tells you that you are doing something wrong. And, once you pinpoint the culprit and quit doing it, you start losing pounds, feel better and get well.

What I didn’t eat today…

  •  Refined oil or processed oily food
  •  Sugar
  •  Ate no grain except rice added in soup

What I did eat…

  •  In the morning I ate my usual fried potato without oil
  •  I made vegetable soup today and had some for lunch
  •  Later, I ate red grapes, cantaloupe and blackberries
  •  For dinner I ate brown basmati rice with salsa with mashed avocado and hummus on the side
  •  I also had avocado and hummus wrapped in Pete’s living greens® butter lettuce during dinner (hydroponic grown butter lettuce)
  •  For a night snack I ate more rice with cut up banana

During the day I had an abundance of energy and felt great. It’s good to remember how different foods make you feel. And, just because you are a vegan or vegetarian doesn’t mean you are the epitome of health. I am still learning what I can eat and not. I believe that if you ‘eat right’, everything else will fall in place.

I want to feel my best, as you likely do, too. I have lost fifty pounds and haven’t gained it back, so my current ongoing goal is to ‘keep’ experiencing vibrant health, keep it that way and live to 100 and possibly beyond. I want to continue doing things like cleaning the soot out of my own chimney, mowing the lawn and any household repair that comes along.
