Although, I have learned essential things about losing weight and getting healthier eating plant-based whole food, I also learned something extremely valuable we need in order for our lives to work out for the better. And, without it, we won’t be nearly as healthy as we could be.
It is just as important as the foods we eat. In other words, eat healthful food, get healthier. But, we also need to train our mind to not dwell upon the negative. Yes, acknowledge that which you want to change, but put your focus instead on that particular condition or thing you ‘want, need or desire’.
As you already know, in life, no matter what we try to do, there will be things with negative outcomes we can’t control. Life happens. We will find the only things we can control is the way we think and actions we take.
We can also control our behavior and this we must. Have you ever heard ‘thoughts have wings’? People will pick them up out of thin air whether they be negative or positive. Others will feel your ‘vibes’.
‘Meditation is a mind and body practice that has a long history of use for increasing calmness and physical relaxation, improving psychological balance, coping with illness, and enhancing overall health and well-being [1 nccih.nih.gov/health/meditation/overview.htm#hed2]’.
For example, you likely have thought about someone you haven’t talked to for quite a while and all of a sudden you run into them at the store or they call you. We have all experienced that. And, it is by no accident this happens. Call it psychic or whatever label you want to put on it, but we are all ‘entangled’ in this experience we call living.
I have told you earlier that I believe meditation can be useful. You exercise your mental focus like you do your muscles. You could call it practicing ‘mindfulness’ and being in the present moment.
One technique I have learned is to focus your attention on your forehead and keep bringing your mind back to that point. There will be plenty of ‘chatter’.
‘During the day, focus upon the positive aspects of your life avoiding dwelling in the ‘muck’. From my experience, my spirits stay lifted and my life keeps attracting good things and conditions. This mindset just might work for you, possibly delivering a miracle or two’ ~ your author
Try to keep the focus on that spot even though your mind will keep trying to ‘distract’ you. Another way, maybe somewhat easier is to focus on the ‘sensation’ of your breathing.
You don’t need to make a big deal out of this. If you get sleepy, take a nap and come back to it again and practice until you ‘get the hang of it’.
