Does Everyone Have To Be A Vegetarian To Be Healthy, Lose Weight And Live Long? The quick answer is a resounding ‘not necessarily’. I have watched YouTube® videos of centenarians living almost a decade or more over 100 and they don’t eat what I call healthy food.

But, I do say that for the most of us, we need to start watching what we eat after we are not teens anymore. It seems most of the people living over one hundred had their food vices. One woman loved her chocolate bars, while a man liked his cigars, coffee and shot of whiskey in the morning.

For example, soft drinks, candy, refined oils and flour are vegetarian, but not plant based whole food. I stopped using these and dropped fifty pounds in a year. The weight didn’t come off fast, but it stays off to this day.

I believe that if you don’t eat fast food and cook your own at home from scratch, this will not only make one healthier, it will help you shed the pounds, not to mention increase your lifespan. When you prepare your own food, you know what’s in it. When you eat out, you really don’t know.

I remember we used to eat at this Italian restaurant. I always got eggplant Parmesan. The combination of ranch dressing on my salad and the cheese, tomato sauce and olive oil on the eggplant Parmesan (and, possibly the eggplant itself because it is a nightshade vegetable) must have triggered a gout attack the very next day.

I never want to experience that kind of extreme pain ever again. It lasted for at least a month after that one Italian meal I so loved. Pain is a great motivator to change ones ways.
