Can We Increase Our Lifespan? 3 Things Oldest People Do…

From what I’ve researched on my own about weight loss, better health and longevity, I have come to the conclusion that a plant based whole food diet is best for promoting all three. How do I know this?

Good question. I learned from my own experience. I lost 50 pounds in a year and my blood pressure dropped to a healthy level. Unfortunately, I will have to wait a few years to tell you when I reach 100.

‘I have found societies who do not eat like westerners who have adopted eating more fruits and vegetables and little processed and refined foods are trim, healthier and live the longest’ ~ your author

‘Some people have voluntarily practiced extreme degrees of calorie restriction over many years in the belief that it will extend lifespan or preserve health. Studies on these individuals have found markedly low levels of risk factors for cardiovascular disease and diabetes [1 nia.nih.gov/health/topics/anti-aging-and-longevity]’.

Around the world those who are trimmest, healthiest and live the longest do these…

“People born in the U.S. today can expect to live to an average age of about 79. A century ago, life expectancy was closer to 54. ‘We’ve had a significant increase in lifespan over the last century,’ says Dr. Marie Bernard, deputy director of NIH’s National Institute on Aging. ‘Now if you make it to age 65, the likelihood that you’ll make it to 85 is very high. And if you make it to 85, the likelihood that you’ll make it to 92 is very high. So people are living longer, and it’s happening across the globe’ [2 newsinhealth.nih.gov/2016/06/can-you-lengthen-your-life].”
