The Diet That ‘Promotes Vigorous Health’ Seventh Day Adventists Recommend

Although, I am not an official Seventh Day Adventist but do share similar beliefs, it seems I also share their recommended diet for health and longevity. I didn’t knowingly adopt their diet, but discovered how close I adhere to theirs…

‘Exercise and avoidance of harmful substances such as tobacco, alcohol and mind-altering substances lead to clear minds and wise choices. A well-balanced vegetarian diet that avoids the consumption of meat coupled with intake of legumes, whole grains, nuts, fruits and vegetables, along with a source of vitamin B12, will promote vigorous health [1 https://www.adventist.org/people/health/]’.

Some of these well known arthritis triggers I avoid…

• Citrus fruits
• Coffee
• Corn
• Dairy products (all)
• Eggs
• Meats (all)
• Nuts
• Potatoes
• Tomatoes
• Wheat, oats, barley, rye

It is also recommended by some authorities to avoid chocolate, strawberries, and tea. I do not, but I have an occasional square of dark chocolate that’s above 80% chocolate because there are healthy benefits. It’s bitter, but it’s still chocolate with much less milk and sugar.

If you’ve been reading my posts for long, you will know I have had bouts of rheumatoid arthritis. Although I have never been to a doctor and had this condition diagnosed, I still know what the symptoms are.

‘For me, it’s joint aches, general body aches and usually inflammation in one of my feet to state just a few conditions. I have had bouts of gout in the past, but this isn’t gout, although, it’s in the same family’ ~ your author

Currently, I am pressure cooking any nightshade vegetable, potatoes, rice and beans to reduce their toxic ingredient called lectin. If you are going to eat these, I don’t think it bad advice to pressure cook them to be safe.

I am still learning what to eat and not all the time. In the beginning, my website was about how to lose weight, but now it includes my take on achieving better health and living longer through eating ‘certain’ plant based whole food and avoiding others. For example, I no longer eat bread and tortillas, etc. because of gluten.
