Where I Learned We Find Peace And Serenity…

People can meditate in many ways. My wife brought up a good point I didn’t think of and that was that my writing was meditative. And, I agreed. It takes my mind off any of my concerns and problems of the day. It does bring me more peace than not.

‘I have been watching a fellow named Eckhart Tolle lately. And, he has some very interesting things to say. If you want to learn how to meditate, his video is helpful’ ~ your author

But, as for me, I think I do it slightly differently. I don’t believe a certain mantra or technique is so important. Learning to be within your own being is what counts. It’s a place where you simply ‘are’. You could call this place ‘the seat of your soul’.

All I do is close my eyes, but you don’t even need to do that. But, in the beginning when you are first learning, different things can happen. For example, you can get tired and feel sleepy. That’s OK, you can take a nap and come back another time.

You can also have racing thoughts. Like Eckhart Tolle says, you don’t have to ‘follow them’. So, here’s how I meditate. I kind of discovered this all by myself after years of trying everyone else’s technique. You learn in life to listen to you. That’s what it’s all about.

‘Your thoughts may keep invading your peaceful meditation. Simply turn your attention away back to your sense of self to where that is…’ ~ your author

So, you know you exist, and by that you can verify it by saying ‘I am’. This is you, your center. Your spirit, soul, your being, the invisible real you. This is where you go. It’s that feeling that makes you know that you exist.

‘You could focus on your breathing. Anything that takes you away from thinking. There is no set rule, as long as what you are doing works’ ~ your author

It seems there’s a bit of a strange brand of coolness there. Of course, you can visualize being in a beautiful place like sitting on a park bench (which I like doing myself) and enjoying the scenery. Lately, I have visualized someone bringing me a kitten or puppy while looking at all the greenery.

Note- before you change your diet consult your doctor. I am not a professional or trained therapist. There is no shame in seeking guidance from a marriage and family counselor for mental and/or emotional issues.
