Our Search For Late Night Healthy Snacks: Warmed ‘Rice’ Cereal

We have always heard brown rice is healthier. Yes, it has more nutrients than white. These are vitamins, minerals and fiber. Yet despite this fact, you might wonder why do I continue eating white rice over brown? Answer: It’s that the arsenic level is higher in brown rice. Therefore, I buy California grown rice called ‘Calrose’.

It has lower arsenic levels than other rice in the USA. But, you are not limited there and can still buy Indian and Pakistan rice which have comparable lower levels of arsenic than any brown, even white. But, then… I often get hungry about an hour after dinner.

You might feel like something to eat later at night…

  • Heat up white rice
  • A shake or two of cinnamon or nutmeg
  • Your choice of slivered blanched almonds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, flax seed powder, unsalted sunflower seeds, cashews
  • A pinch or so of shredded coconut
  • Sliced up banana
  • Pour on unsweetened almond, rice or soy milk
  • I do not recommend dairy

I have learned to pressure cook rice, beans and potatoes because of lectins. You don’t want high lectin and arsenic levels at the same time when this can easily be avoided.

‘Food allergy is defined as an adverse health effect arising from a specific immune response that occurs reproducibly following exposure to a given food. Cow’s milk protein allergy results from an immunological reaction to one or more milk proteins [1]’.

I believe most ailments, conditions and diseases are food borne. Our bodies can eventually break down and vital organs cease to function because of being overloaded with toxins through the years.

The way out is eating 80-90% plant based whole food. We can eat as much of this as we want not having to read ingredient labels for ingredients we can’t even pronounce.

‘I don’t use dairy because it causes me to cough up mucus from my lungs, my sinuses get stuffy and ears plug up within minutes. I also know it causes me inflammation. It contains saturated fats, antibiotics, pesticides and more. Some reliable health sources say dairy is good others say it’s bad. Who do you believe’?

Food can heal or destroy your body. I believe plant based whole food is medicine. Since we have to live in this body of ours, why not be pain free, trim, healthier and live much longer? A plant based whole food diet is a proven solution.
