You Lost Weight, Got Healthier And Still Feel Lousy… What Are My Options?

I am always trying to ‘fine tune’ my health. Sometimes, it seems that no matter how good I eat there’s that certain something causing me problems I can’t seem to figure out. For example, I have finally found extra virgin olive oil to not be health promoting (regardless of all the voices saying it is so.)

I am not just picking on EVOO. What I found is all ‘refined oil’ is unhealthy. Therefore, I’ve eliminated all processed and refined foods from my diet. I even stopped adding ‘sesame oil’ and a little olive oil to my hummus and salad dressings for flavor. This was unfortunate, but I feel it was necessary.

‘I don’t use olive oil or any other. But, I do love eating olives. Yet, these too have olive oil in them. Refined oils damage the  endothelium layer of the arteries. Additionally, it can cause intestinal permeability and suppress the immune system’

As one gets older he becomes that much more sensitive to ‘bad food’. And, as one gets healthier he becomes more sensitive to those ingredients known for ‘triggering’ inflammation.

In other words, those mysterious aches and pains may return, but you will wonder why. We don’t want to hear that we can’t eat anything that’s bad for us. This is though the truth about food in relation to ones health.

‘I pressure cook potatoes, beans and rice to reduce lectin potency’

In my opinion, if one eats the majority of his food (80-90%) plant based whole food, there may still be things you eat ‘tricking you’ and keeping you from achieving vibrant health.

Just don’t get ‘discouraged’ and go back to the old ways of eating thinking everything is bad for you so it doesn’t matter. Why? Because everything we eat actually does matter be it for better or worse.

‘What if living healthier and pain free could be as simple as not adding cream to your coffee, using rice milk which has sunflower and safflower oil, eliminating Omega 6 rich nuts and seeds and pressure cooking nightshade vegetables’?

There are things I don’t do because I know the penalty I’m to be given the next day. For example, I know what to expect when eating popcorn with butter or olive oil drizzled on it. Sardines is animal protein high in purines. Alcohol causes gout and/or fatty liver disease.

‘Even though you lose weight, your blood pressure is healthy and you don’t have any major diseases, you still might have a few ailments you can’t seem to put your finger on’

I eliminated all grains except rice. Wheat, barley, oats, corn affects me adversely. You might want to take a closer look at common foods (and, drink) known to be pain triggers for some of us…

  • Alcohol
  • Apples
  • Bananas
  • Chocolate
  • Citrus Fruits
  • Dairy
  • Eggs
  • Meat
  • Nuts, Seeds, Cashews, Pistachios, Peanuts
  • Olives and its oil
  • Onions
  • Potatoes
  • Sauerkraut
  • Soy
  • Sugar, high fructose corn syrup
  • Tomatoes and other nightshades such as peppers
  • Wheat, oats, corn, barley, rye and all the rest
  • Is there anything left to eat? Yes, plenty! I eat all I want. What I eat, here.

Note- consult your doctor before you change your diet or if you believe you have a health problem. Your physician may suggest you undergo an ‘elimination diet‘ in discovering which foods you may have an allergic reaction to.
