You can use canned garbanzos or cook yours from dry beans in your pressure cooker. This is what I do, but either way does the job just fine. This is what I call a ‘healthy snack’. Continue reading “Tasty Non-Fat Hummus (Hold The Olive Oil!) Recipe”
I still wrestle with my former food addictions. But, I test. This means going back to some of my old food favorites. The longer you don’t eat them, you find the old food never tastes as good as you remember. Here’s some examples of foods Continue reading “Conquering Snack And Junk Food Addiction: 5 Hunger Satisfying Tips”
We have always heard brown rice is healthier. Yes, it has more nutrients than white. These are vitamins, minerals and fiber. Yet despite this fact, you might wonder why do I continue eating white rice over brown? Answer: It’s that the Continue reading “Our Search For Late Night Healthy Snacks: Warmed ‘Rice’ Cereal”
I like making new recipes that are healthy to eat. This one is basically fried potatoes without oil and a mashed avocado with green onion and spices. Continue reading “Fried Avocado Potato Boats Healthy Snack (Or Meal) Recipe”
We’ve been brought up in cultures eating a certain way. There is junk and snack food in every society. I might want to ask another valid question. Remember the old expression ‘you can’t teach an old dog new tricks’? There’s always an exception to every rule. Continue reading “Is There Life Without Snack And Junk Food? Why It’s A Yes And A No…”
I have always loved popcorn. And, yes it (corn) is on my no eat list. But, it’s usually once a week I do so. No one is perfect, especially, this guy. But, I found another way to make it delicious. This recipe might sound a little strange, but ‘don’t knock it’ until you’ve tried it. Continue reading “Is Popcorn Healthier With Olive Oil or Butter?”
As you know, if you’ve read my posts is that I eat plant based whole food. This does not mean I am a vegetarian or vegan, because they eat things I don’t. I eat whole food and not junk and snack foods. Continue reading “How To Eat Healthy On The Job As A Vegetarian And Vegan (and, not be ridiculed…)”
I have always loved eating salty snacks and junk food like corn and potato chips. Nothing went down better than a salty pretzel and bottle of beer. But, I don’t do that anymore. My body demands respect and good treatment… Continue reading “Why Sodium Sneaks Up Affecting You More Than You Realized…”
It was always a big mystery to me in losing weight. I had a hard time, but was doing it wrong. I think I must have listened to too many ‘Quack’ doctors and read their misleading books.
Obviously, they were in it for the money, but many like myself believed what they said and tried out their dangerous diets. Then, there were all those weight loss commercials on TV. Eat this and not that! Here, buy our food delivered to your door!
Such a rip off! Lies, lies, and even more lies! Was there anyone who told the truth? There wasn’t the information available readily back then in the late 70’s like there is currently right at our fingertips with cell phones and the internet. Except, that now the same problem persists. There is a lot of misinformation and we have to weed through it ourselves.
‘For me, the secret to losing weight was when I began eating plant based whole food. It was naturally low in fat and there were no refined carbohydrates like chips, crackers and tortillas. When I stopped eating the snack and junk food, my weight went down steadily from where I got stuck at 185 lbs., down to where I am now at my High School weight of 158’ ~ your author
I have always loved chips and dip. I always craved the salty over the sweet like ice cream. I loved cheese and salami and crackers. I have eaten a heck of a lot of meat in my time washing it all down with untold gallons of milk. Again, a big business blatantly lied! ‘Every body does not need milk’! It’s a surprise I am still alive. There must be a reason I am still around!
Excerpt about weight control from MedlinePlus…
‘Eating too much or not being physically active enough will make you overweight. To maintain your weight, the calories you eat must equal the energy you burn. To lose weight, you must use more calories than you eat. A weight-control strategy might include
- Choosing low-fat, low-calorie foods
- Eating smaller portions
- Drinking water instead of sugary drinks
- Being physically active
Before I began this site, I weighed over 200 pounds. I never had energy and was tired of pulling my pants up because my belly pushed them back down. Now, my weight is self maintained. It’s automatic. That is, of course, if I don’t begin eating bags of chips!
There’s something about refined grains in that when you grind them into a fine powder, the increased surface area will add on the pounds. I couldn’t have just one chip. I would eat the whole family pack greasy bag in one sitting watching my favorite vampire movie!

One reason we can’t stop eating food that’s bad for us is that it is addicting. Yes, added fat, sugar and salt make food taste better. We were brought up on snacks and junk food. How can a soda and bag of chips hurt us? In my opinion, it Continue reading “Once I Stopped Eating These, I Began To Consistently Lose More Weight…”
