It’s not easy losing weight, but sooner or later we have to take matters into our own hands and confront our eating addictions. If we wish to shed pounds, we have to alter our lifestyle putting our own weight management back to where it belongs: under our own control and direction.
After all, whose responsibility is it for our own health and well-being? I don’t know of anyone who’s going to do it for us. The scale is friend, not foe. We have the power right at our finger tips to change the way be behave. It’s what we stick our forks into.
It’s way too easy to believe all those diet and exercise advertisements on the TV. They have to be legit, because they are on TV, right? The truth is you don’t need to spend more money to lose weight, get well and live longer than what you are currently spending for groceries each week. You don’t need their pills, powders, drinks or food delivered to your door.
All those so-called ‘experts’ on all talk shows sound so official and seem to know what they are talking about. Why would they be lying? They usually have something they want you to buy.
I am not saying they all are misleading you, but I believe you are better off thinking for yourself once you have done your own research into nutrition and how it relates to your own weight loss and health.
Things may seem complicated when it comes to losing weight, but it is actually quite a simple matter. We can’t just throw up our hands and leave our fates to others. The hardest part of the whole thing may be the willpower required to change the foods we eat.
We also do need support at home for our new way of eating. If everyone around you at your house thinks eating healthy doesn’t matter and keeps candy, chips and all kinds of junk foods in front of you, this can stop your progress. No support for a healthy diet is no laughing matter putting you between a rock and a hard place.
If you want to lose weight, get healthier and likely live longer, this is what I do…
- Stay away from junk food and snacks (potato chips, candy, pastries, pies, ice cream, etc.)
- Avoid processed foods (Example: frozen TV dinners, eating out, etc.)
- Don’t consume refined foods (all grains like crackers and flour, fats and sugar)
- You need to find healthy substitutes to eat like fruit if you crave sweets and a baked potato and brown rice if you crave starchy food or snacks
I had cravings in the beginning and got stuck at 185 lbs.. When I removed the culprits, I began losing weight again. Once I stopped eating chips, corn tortillas, snack and junk food in bags and boxes, bread and cold cereals the pounds melted away. These are some of the worst weight gainers and health robbers.
These temptations need to be removed from your residence. Go clear out your cupboards and make sure you eat before you go to the grocery store. Believe me, if you are hungry your mind will play tricks on you and you’ll buy what you know you shouldn’t.
Later that night, after you’ve devoured your treats you will regret the way you feel the next day and the added weight when you hop on your scale. Guiltless sweets are natural sugars with fiber like bananas, oranges, berries and cantaloupe. Eat as much fruit as you want, but stay away from fruit juice!
And, if all those junk and snack food treats aren’t there in the cupboard or fridge anymore, you won’t have to fight that temptation! You will be forced to eat healthy fruit because it will be the only thing in the house to eat. Works for me!
Note- consult your doctor before you change your diet.
