Good Carbs vs Bad Carbs

Not all carbs are created equal. This is the good carbs vs bad carbs. You want to avoid spikes in blood sugar because it’s not healthy in the long run. Eat plant based whole foods such as brown rice, vegetables and beans to avoid extreme blood sugar highs and lows. The carbs in whole foods take longer to break down making you feel more satiated.

The bad carbs are in crackers, bread and cookies (anything containing flour.) There’s a sharp rise in your blood sugar, then you crash and crave more. Try eating fruit for energy, instead. Avoid fructose and white sugar.

The only way to get your daily fiber is to eat plant based food.
Fiber slows absorption of sugar into the blood stream.

Snacks or junk food is often very low or lacking in fiber. Fiber may reduce the risk of colon cancer also tending to control weight gain. The American diet doesn’t contain much fiber. Meat has none. White flour has none. Sugar has none. Oil has none.

Sugar and refined grain or starch supplies quick energy, but if not used up will be converted by insulin into fat on your body as extra weight. Furthermore, if you eat low fat snacks, sugar often replaces the fat for the sake of taste. In other words, added fat makes food taste better.

If you want to lose weight, I would make sure I avoided all forms of grain. I loved crackers, cold cereal, cookies, bread and tortillas. This did nothing but make me gain weight because I simply could not eat just a little. Give me a box of crackers or bag of chips, and I ate the whole thing.

It didn’t take me long to weigh over two hundred pounds! Some things you just can’t eat; you have to give it up entirely. You quit because your health is at stake. Grain is addicting for many people causing them to gain weight and even more.
