Healthy cooking oil: Why all are unhealthy


Is there a healthy cooking oil? Throughout this site I consistently tell my readers refined and processed oils are not healthy. Furthermore, I don’t recommend cooking with oils or drizzling them over a salad. Use a few seeds or nuts instead, but not handfuls. Try Chestnuts, as they are very low in fat.

Is oil in general good for me? No, not at all. Oil is low in nutrition, has no fiber, no minerals and is all fat calories! Oils such as corn oil, coconut oil, canola oil, olive oil or any other are not good for you even though you’ve heard they are.

Oils injure the Endothelium

Both the mono unsaturated and saturated fat contained in oils is unhealthy and bad for your heart and cardiovascular system. Oils injure the endothelium, which is the innermost lining of the artery. This is especially true with olive oil, soybean and palm oils. It is one cause of vascular disease [1].

Oil is empty calories because it’s processed. Eat real whole unprocessed plant based food, instead. All fruits and vegetables have varying amounts of oil, but the amount is very low.

And, just because avocados, nuts and seeds are all natural, doesn’t mean we should make a practice of eating a lot of them. Eat them occasionally. All animal protein injures the lining of the arteries. Don’t eat it.

To me, the only healthy cooking oil is the one without the oil…


If you feel tired and have no energy, you might not be getting enough calories. You might be craving things like nuts and seeds and bread, tortillas and cookies, etc. All these will make you gain weight.

When you become vegetarian you have eliminated the high calorie foods your body is used to getting that made you overweight and unhealthy in the first place. These are foods like meat, dairy and oil.

Therefore, start eating more beans, legumes and starchy grains (like brown rice and potatoes) and starchy vegetables to make up for the lost calories (don’t forget fruit, too.) Just make sure you eat more plant based whole food.
