You have heard some bad things about wheat, but that’s not where it ends. Every grain has its own gluten. You might have noticed how many foods have the added ingredient of grain. It might have corn flour, wheat flour or even soy as added ingredients. You might not think any of these are unhealthy and don’t affect you, but how would you know for sure?
It’s important to listen to our body’s wisdom. It will tell you how a certain food makes you feel. For example, wheat and corn are famous for being allergens which may produce an immune response in the body. The typical grains we eat come from grasses cows and other animals graze upon. These are its seeds. Some examples are: corn, rice, rye, oats, wheat and barley.
Humans have no nutritional requirement for grain. Anyway, grain has little nutrition in it. You can get much more nutrition from fruits and vegetables. You can also get your fiber from these. Grain, you don’t need. Did you know wheat was highly addictive like opium?
It binds to the receptors of the brain like the drug does. It also stimulates the appetite. This drives us to eat that much more of it. No wonder people like wheat products so much! They are addicted! Wheat is not the staff of life, it’s the staff of hunger and malnutrition!
7 good reasons to avoid wheat (and, other grains) …
- Gluten – drug like affects and more
- Lectin – inflammation of the gut and more
- Wheat has easily digestible starch called amylopectin A, which is disruptive to blood sugar levels
- Grain flour acts just like sugar raising blood sugar levels too quickly and can cause cavities similar to sugar and can make you gain weight
- Grain is acid possibly causing acid reflux, also affecting teeth enamel
Instead of a wheat gluten free diet, you might want to consider a complete ‘no grain diet.’ This means you might want to get tested to see if other grains like corn, barley, rye and oats affect you. Besides these, there are still others which could impair health and affect how you feel, too.
You could abstain from all grain products by reading all labels and see how you feel in a few days or week or so. You may start feeling a whole lot better. But, there may be a few grains that don’t bother you like those I eat below…
- Brown rice
- Quinoa
