This post is actually for anyone, any age. Plant based whole food works for everyone young or old. Go figure how and why different societies and ethnicity created their menus. But, everyone on earth suffers the health consequences of wrong eating. It happens that when you change the food you eat, your taste buds do change their preferences. Really. You eventually learn what the healthier food choice is… Continue reading “Why You Are Never Too Old To Eat Your Way To Better Health…”
Plant based whole food has no added ingredients. Vegan or vegetarian food can be things like chips and soda. We know we like junk and snack food, but it isn’t healthy. Just like being married to a movie star wouldn’t be right for most of us, good tasting food isn’t necessarily healthy, either. Staying the course as a vegetarian or vegan isn’t the easiest thing to do, especially when you drive by your ‘used to be’ favorite pizza parlor or hamburger drive through. We all succumb to temptation in one food form or another. I would say it simply comes down to human nature. It’s hard to ‘stick with doing something’ when the majority does not eat mostly plant based whole food. Continue reading “Being Vegetarian: Going It Alone…”
I use the USDA choose my plate calculator. I devised a daily calorie and meal plan using their tools. Here’s a page that might interest you, here. When we get older, we have to watch what we eat more than we used to. We also don’t absorb nutrients as good. For example, an important vitamin is B12. I take 500mg everyday. The only supplement pill I take.
‘When you get older, you don’t want to end up disabled or in and out of the hospital all the time. You don’t call that living and a happy retirement. You want to be healthy, and are mindful you won’t be around forever’ ~ your author
So, you want to make the best of time you have left and lengthen your healthy years on this planet as much as you can. You don’t want to lose your health, because there is a point of no return and you might not get it back.
I exercise everyday. I would say it is a ‘light to moderate’ workout doing calisthenics and free weights. It’s not exhausting, as I purposely make it that way because I stay active doing things around the house like mowing the lawn, etc.. I feel household activity is the better of the two, even though I do both.
I ‘try’ to avoid most (but, not all) commonly known Arthritis triggers…
• Citrus fruits
• Dairy products (all)
• Meats (all)
• Wheat, oats, barley, rye
I think what has helped my health in a big way was losing 50 lbs.. Just as important, I eat plant based whole food. It’s not technically what you’d call a vegan or vegetarian meal plan, because refined and processed foods are not officially on my menu.
I cook and prepare all my food from ‘scratch’. For example, I use a Farberware® 7 in 1 pressure cooker to make vegetable soup, pinto beans, rice and potatoes (highly recommended kitchen tool.) I also eat green salads consisting of arugula and spinach, among others like baby kale. I eat berries and drink a green smoothie everyday.
There are foods I avoid. For example, I ‘rarely’ eat out at restaurants and ‘almost’ never get fast food delivered. Curious about what I eat? Check it out, here.
Note- consult your doctor before you change your diet.

As one gets older, he usually feels more aches and pains. It could also be food related and not so much age. The longer I am Vegan, the sooner the red flag comes up when I ‘fall of the wagon’. I have studied much more about diet than I believe most doctors ever thought of. Although, I am not the expert, I think I saved my wife and myself from an early demise by eating unhealthy food. Why would one ever think he was eating wrong when what he eats tastes so good? Continue reading “Rationale for Eating More Raw Plant Based Whole Food: How about Weight Loss, Health and Longevity?”
What’s more important? Is it how our food tastes or good health and weight loss? Why not all the above? People see everything differently and place their own importance on what they want out of life. From what I’ve read, your body has enough vitamin B12 stored up possibly lasting 3-5 years. I have wondered why that if we need small amounts of it, how come they sell bottles that have 500mcg and over? Even though, there might be a good reason they are doing so, there’s confusion about how much and which kind to take… Continue reading “Vitamin B12 Supplements: Who Needs It, How Much and What Type?”
