Staying the course as a vegetarian or vegan isn’t the easiest thing to do, especially when you drive by your ‘used to be’ favorite pizza parlor or hamburger drive through. I use the USDA choose my plate calculator. I devised a daily calorie and meal plan using their tools. Here’s a page that might interest you, here. When we get older, we have to watch what we eat more than we used to. We also don’t absorb nutrients as good. For example, an important vitamin is B12. I take 500mg everyday. The only supplement pill I take.

So, you want to make the best of time you have left and lengthen your healthy years on this planet as much as you can. You don’t want to lose your health, because there is a point of no return and you might not get it back.
I exercise everyday. I would say it is a ‘light to moderate’ workout doing calisthenics and free weights. It’s not exhausting, as I purposely make it that way because I stay active doing things around the house like mowing the lawn, etc.. I feel household activity is the better of the two, even though I do both.
I ‘try’ to avoid most (but, not all) commonly known Arthritis triggers…
• Citrus fruits
• Dairy products (all)
• Meats (all)
• Wheat, oats, barley, rye
I think what has helped my health in a big way was losing 50 lbs.. Just as important, I eat plant based whole food. It’s not technically what you’d call a vegan or vegetarian meal plan, because refined and processed foods are not officially on my menu.
I cook and prepare all my food from ‘scratch’. For example, I use a Farberware® 7 in 1 pressure cooker to make vegetable soup, pinto beans, rice and potatoes (highly recommended kitchen tool.) I also eat green salads consisting of arugula and spinach, among others like baby kale. I eat berries and drink a green smoothie everyday.
There are foods I avoid. For example, I ‘rarely’ eat out at restaurants and ‘almost’ never get fast food delivered. Curious about what I eat? Check it out, here.
