What is longevity: Why the food we eat plays an essential part

What is longevity? It is long life. But, the way you want it is a long life of health, not in the hospital in pain from cancer or something else wrong with you. I am a strong believer diet can and does work miracles.

Let’s both live long and prosper! You do this by food choices. Lifestyle is just as essential. For example, we need family and friends. No man can exist as a hermit on his own desert island, especially if there’s nothing for him to eat except junk and snack food!

Just so you know, there’s no magical elixir in pill, liquid or powder form for health and long life. Anyone who tries to sell you it is lying. Our bodies weren’t meant to consume it. Plant based whole food has been our sustenance for eons. We have teeth for chewing. If vitamins were so great, they would grow on trees to pick like apples!

Look at the great apes. We are almost exactly the same, genetically speaking. They hold bananas. We can, too. They are meant for us to eat, instead of holding an ice cream cone or soft drink bottle.

We want to live long. That’s longevity. But, if one is chronically ill, what kind of life is that? Did you know that way too many of us Americans spend the last ten to twenty years at the doctor’s office or in the hospital? That’s no way to live out our retirement! We want to be independent holding hands walking with our loved one, not dependent pushed in a wheelchair.

We must prevent our health from failing in the first place. This is called ‘prevention’. It’s as easy as changing our food choices. The rule of thumb is that if the food comes in a container of any type, it’s not real whole food! Get rid of it!

Excellent health is in each of our hands. It depends upon what we eat with our knife and fork. Plant based whole food comes in the form of fruits and vegetables, nothing else. Only plants have fiber, not animal products. Fiber an essential nutrient, as are vitamins and minerals.
